There are plenty of rental shops available for you to choose from with a wide variety of equipment including bikes, paddleboards, chairs, umbrellas, and more. Entire day or by hour rentals are available. Prices may vary.

The main lifeguard station is at the foot of Ventura Place, just a few blocks north of our condos. This station is manned daily year-round. Additional lifeguards are staffed along the beach in seasonal lifeguard towers during the summer months, usually from 9 a.m. until dusk. Check with them if you are unsure of ocean conditions.

Beaches throughout San Diego experience strong rip currents on a regular basis. They can be dangerous even for advanced swimmers. The best advice is to avoid areas that have rip currents and to swim near a lifeguard.

There are several fire rings on the beach that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Only wood, charcoal, and paper may be burned in them and they cannot be stacked any higher than 12 inches above the top of the ring. All fires must be extinguished before leaving the area. Fires outside the designated rings are not allowed.

You can also hire Beach Fire Guy to come out and build your fire for you as well as perform the cleanup. Take away all the work and enjoy the fun. Mention "Menehune Enterprises" when you call and receive a 10% discount! 

Parking in the alleyways and side streets is prohibited so please pay attention to red-curb areas and no parking signs. Vehicles in violation will be ticketed and/or towed. Boardwalk Enterprises provides you with at least one parking space with your rental. Additional parking is available along Mission Boulevard, but it is difficult to find in the summer because of the large crowds.

The city's climate is characterized by warm, dry summers and mild winters with most of the annual precipitation falling between December and March. The city has mild, mostly dry weather, with an average of 201 days above 70 degrees.
